WHO WE ARE
Who is providing this Notice?
On 3rd November 1988, Donewell Insurance Company was incorporated under Ghana’s Company Code 1963 (Act 179). The Company was granted a license to operate as a composite company by the National Insurance Commission (NIC) on 26th February 1993 in accordance with PNDC law 227 and commenced business on 1st March 1993 selling both life and non-life products within the Ghanaian market.
In compliance with the provisions of the new Insurance Act 2006 (Act 724) that requires composite insurance companies to separate their life from the non-life businesses, Donewell Insurance Company established Donewell Life Company now Pinnacle Life Insurance Company Limited as a limited liability company under the Company’s Code, 1963 (Act 179) in September 2007 to underwrite life insurance business only.

Why are we providing this Notice?
We wish to explain how we use personal data we collect from you when you purchase our products or use our services. Please read this Notice.
WHAT WE DO
What data do we collect or process?
We collect or process personal data mainly to help us understand how we can best serve you. The data will include personal identification information (Name, email address, phone number, date of birth, bank account details, ID card residential address, health data etc.).
How do we collect your personal data?
You directly provide us with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:
- Fill any of our Know Your Customer (KYC) forms.
- Register online on our websites and other digital platforms.
- Place an order for any of our products or services.
- Voluntarily request for information on our products and services.
- Sign on to use our website, the Pinnacle Life App or any system operated by the institution.
We may also receive your data indirectly from other sources (e.g. data controllers on whose behalf we process personal data, intermediaries, partners or parties with insurable interests).
Legal basis for processing personal data
We process your personal data to provide you with the service for which we have been contracted and for other services you have consented to. In some circumstances and as required by law, we may process your personal data for legitimate reasons, under legal obligations or for public interest considerations.
How will we use your personal data?
We use your personal data to:
- Process your requests or orders.
- Provide you with products and services requested.
- Manage your account or our relationship with you.
- Recommend other products or services that may be of interest to you.
How do we store your personal data?
We store your personal data both manually and electronically. The personal data is also stored internally and externally, including with cloud services. We take reasonable measures to securely store your personal data and have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent loss, misuse or unauthorised access of your personal data. Depending on the purpose of collection, we will keep your personal data for a period of six (6) months to six (6) years after it is no longer necessary for the purpose for which we collected it, unless otherwise required by law.
SHARING YOUR DATA
- We will share your data with third party data processors (where required) so we can provide you with services and products unless you indicate otherwise. Any processing by a third-party data processor will be on our instructions and based on the terms of this Privacy Notice.

What do we mean by marketing?
- We may use your personal data to communicate a view we form on products or services that you may be interested in or what we think you may require (this is what we describe as marketing).
- You will receive such marketing or non-transactional messages from us if you have requested for information from us or have purchased our services or products and you have consented to receiving such marketing or non-transactional messages.

What happens if you object to sharing your data for our daily activities?
If you object to sharing your data for our daily activities in respect of our contractual obligations to you, we would not be able to process your requests or orders and provide you with products and services requested or maintain your account with us.

- You acknowledge and agree that, subject to your consent, we may share your personal data in accordance with the section on ‘SHARING YOUR DATA’ unless and until you withdraw consent.
- You agree that we may use your personal data for any of the purposes stated, subject to any withdrawal requests.
- You may withdraw your consent and opt-out of any or all of the marketing activities at any time (including at the time of your request for our products and services).

How do I exercise my rights?
To exercise any of your rights please contact the Data Protection Supervisor using any of the contact details provided below. Subsequently, you can also do that by filling out our data subject access request form available here: dsar.pinnaclelife.com.gh We may ask for some information to confirm your identity and to ensure we do not disclose your personal data to unauthorised persons. We may also request for additional information to facilitate any request. We will normally respond to requests within 14 working days. However, it may take longer if the request is complex or if there are multiple requests.
