Who We Are

Donewell Insurance Company was incorporated under Ghana’s Company Code 1963 (Act 179) on 3rd November 1988; the Company was granted a license to operate as a composite company by the National Insurance Commission (NIC) on 26th February 1993 in accordance with PNDC law 227 and commenced business on 1st March 1993. Over the years it has been selling both life and non-life products within the Ghanaian market. In compliance with the provisions of the new Insurance Act 2006 (Act 724) that requires composite insurance companies to separate their life from the non-life businesses, Donewelll Insurance Company established Donewell Life Company as a limited liability company under the Company’s Code, 1963 (Act 179) in September 2007 to underwrite life insurance business only. Effective January 1, 2008, the Life Division of Donewell Insurance Company started operating as fully-fledged life assurance company under the name Donewell Life Company.

However, following the new regulatory capitalisation requirements by the NIC in 2016, Donewell Insurance Company Limited ceded its total shares in Donewell Life to Pinnacle Equity Investments Limited (A privately owned equity firm) in November 2016.

Sally is a seasoned HR professional who is passionate about people management and mentoring the next generation of corporate leaders. She has over 15 years of HR experience in the insurance, oil & gas, and mining sectors in areas of Recruitment & Selection, Compensation & Benefits, Performance Management, Learning & Development and Industrial Relations.

Sally is a Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (CIHRM), a member of the Chartered Professional Administrator (ChPA) and a Certified Professional of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP). She holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from GIMPA and a Bachelor’s degree from UCC.

Sally has excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as experience in managing diverse work force. She possesses an in-depth knowledge in international and Ghana Labour Laws, leadership and global/intercultural fluency and skills in critical thinking. She is a team player and result oriented.

Prior to joining Pinnacle Life Insurance, she worked at Imperial General Assurance as Head of HR and Admin, at Belmet 7 Limited as Human Resource Manager, and at Forge (Webb) Construction – West Africa as Human Resource Manager/Supervisor.

As Head of HR and Admin at Pinnacle Life Insurance Company Limited, she is responsible for the provision of Human Resource guidance, oversees the administrative function of the company and support managers and staff on a range of HR strategies and operational issues.

Owusu Yaw Osei-Bobie is an astute and consummate insurance professional with over 16 years’ experience in life insurance sales, distribution, and operations. He worked at Ghana Union Assurance Life Company Limited in many capacities and rose to the position of Head of Sales and Operations with oversight responsibility for corporate, retail and microinsurance distribution.

Owusu Yaw joined the Financial Systems Development Insurance project of the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) as a Technical Advisor to specifically oversee industry growth geared projects with key partners such as the National Insurance Commission (NIC), Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG), the Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG), Ghana Insurers Association (GIA) and other international development-oriented institutions working in inclusive insurance as tool to build resilience.
After leaving GIZ, he joined KEK Insurance Brokers as Head of Group Life, Health and Pensions, contributing to the outstanding growth of the unit.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management from the University of Cape Coast. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Sustainable Development and Management from the University of Ghana. He is a Chartered Insurance Professional with the Insurance Institute of Canada, Ontario Chapter and has ten (10) years post charter experience. Owusu Yaw is also a certified expert in inclusive insurance distribution after being trained by the International Labour Organization’s Impact Insurance Facility.
Yaw was recently appointed a vetted member of the United Nations Development Programme Ghana (UNDP-Ghana) pool of experts for the UNDP’s Global Insurance and Risk Financing project.

He has attended several local and international conferences on the business of life insurance and is a strong advocate for digital life insurance distribution with its capability to reach wider underserved markets. He possesses the talent to spot and create opportunities for distribution of life insurance through embedded products and partnerships.

Francis is a solution-focused and resourceful educator with diverse experience in Instructional Design, Process Training, Learning Facilitation, People Management, Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation.

He is adept at creating innovative learning solutions and is dedicated to delivering tailor-made training, aimed at maintaining a reputation built on quality, service, and collaboration. He has over 10 years of experience delivering effective Adult Training, Education, and relevant management solutions across different industries such as Education, Research, and Consultancy within the Ghanaian economy.

Francis joined Donewell Life, now Pinnacle Life Insurance Company Limited in 2018 as Head of Training. He is currently the Head of Training and Agency Management. He started his professional work as a lecturer at Wisconsin International University College, Accra. He moved on to work in various Training, Business Consulting and Research roles at Wisconsin Consultancy Unit and the Bureau of Social and Market Research (MSR).

He holds a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) Degree in Development Management and a First Class Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy and the Study of Religions from the University of Ghana. He has several published and unpublished works to his credit.

He is responsible for managing Pinnacle Life Insurance’s Agency force and ensuring that they are equipped and motivated with up-to-date relevant knowledge required for developing teams that meet business objectives.

Joseph Abeashie Abbey – Risk and Compliance Manager

Mr. Joseph Abeashie Abbey is the Head of department for Risk and Compliance at Pinnacle Life Insurance Company Limited. He is an ardent professional with a very sharp business acumen. He has over fourteen years of experience from the financial industry spanning from microfinance through to the universal bank. Joseph, holds a Master of Business Administration Degree, Finance from Wisconsin International University and a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Marketing and Management from Valley View University. Joseph is also a Certified Enterprise Risk Manager (CERM) with certification by the London School of Business and Finance, a Certified Data Protection Supervisor (CDPS) and is a Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Ghana (IIAG). He is also the Anti-Money Laundering Reporting Officer (AMLRO) for the institution.

Having worked in various capacities ranging from a Risk and Compliance Manager through to Head of Internal Audit, he has developed both technical and managerial skills for developing a deep Governance, Risk and Compliance culture for various institutions.

Beatrice Sarpong Osei is the Head of Claims and Underwriting at Pinnacle Life Insurance Company Limited. She has a wealth of technical experience in claims administration and investigation, underwriting and product development.

She is currently an Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII), United Kingdom. She has an Advance Diploma in insurance from the Ghana Insurance College. Beatrice also holds a Diploma in insurance from the West African Insurance Institute (WAII), The Gambia. She holds a degree in Mathematics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.

With over 20 years working experience in the insurance industry, she has rich experience in life underwriting, claims administration, reinsurance, group life administration, and renewal and premium administration. Beatrice started her early carrier with the composite Donewell Insurance Company Limited after her national service with Metropolitan Insurance Co. Limited in Kumasi. She rose through the ranks from an officer to assume the position of a Manager, as the Head of the Underwriting and Claims department of Pinnacle Life Insurance Company Limited.

She has attended several conferences and seminars within the insurance industry.

Mr. Kodwo Koomson is the Head Technical of Pinnacle Life Insurance Company Limited. He holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Paris Graduate School of Management (PGSM) and Higher National Diploma in Statistics from Accra Technical University. Kodwo Koomson is also a Chartered Insurer and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII-UK).

He started his insurance career with Star Assurance Company, then to Starlife Assurance and later joined Metropolitan Life. He has been working in the Insurance Industry for more than 12 years and has extensive knowledge and expertise in Underwriting, Claims Administration and Business Case Development.

He has attended several business workshops and training programme both locally and abroad.

Ophelia Nana Ama Sarsah – Chief Finance Officer

Ophelia is currently the Chief Finance Officer of Pinnacle Life Insurance Company Limited.

She is a Chartered Accountant with over fifteen years’ working experience in the insurance industry in the areas of Finance, Accounting, Taxation, Auditing, Anti–Money Laundering/Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT).

She hitherto worked with Donewell Insurance Company Limited from September 2001 and was transferred in January 2008 to join the newly formed Donewell Life Company Limited now Pinnacle Life Insurance Company Limited when it was separated in compliance with the Insurance Act and Regulations.

Ophelia was also the appointed Anti-Money Laundering Reporting Officer (AMLRO) at the time, reporting directly to the National Insurance Commission (NIC) and the Financial Intelligence Centre. Her responsibility was to monitor and report on issues relating to commitment by the Board, Management and Staff to comply with AML/CFT obligations under the relevant Laws and Regulations.

She is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK.

Group Life Policy

This Policy provides for the payment of a lump sum at the occurrence of death plus an option to cover Permanent Disability and Critical Illness. This policy is specifically designed for Companies, Social and Religious Groups. If an employee under this cover dies or is permanently disabled while in service, Pinnacle Life shall pay an agreed sum (benefit) to his/her named beneficiary. The cover could be extended to cover third parties like: Spouse, Mother, Father and Children.
